Research Awareness Animation
Overview
Commissioned by the Institute of Employment Studies in partnership with Cumbria Youth Alliance, this project aimed to translate complex research findings into an accessible, engaging animated film designed for digital distribution.
I developed a fully illustrated animation system that simplified key insights through clear visual storytelling, combining character-led illustrations, data visualisation and narrative pacing to support the supplied voiceover.
All illustration and animation were developed from scratch, creating a cohesive visual language that balanced clarity with warmth. The motion design was structured to guide viewers through the research themes while maintaining engagement across the full runtime.
The final film was produced for YouTube distribution across partner channels, allowing the organisations to communicate research insights to a broader public and policy audience through a format that is both informative and visually approachable.

Approach
The visual style was intentionally simple and approachable, using clean vector illustration and controlled motion to ensure clarity when presenting complex information. Scene transitions and pacing were designed to align with the voiceover narrative, allowing key statistics and insights to land clearly while maintaining viewer engagement throughout the film.
